Netflix won the sales battle for the film in the action genre.
Netflix has once again taken the first step to working with Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds and Netflix, who will reunite after “6 Underground,” will partner for an untitled action-adventure film to be directed by Shawn Levy, the director of “Night at the Museum,”Variety reported. Netflix acquired this new project from Skydance Media, the team behind “6 Underground.” A similar deal had happened for the movie” The Old Guard.”
Prior to that film, Reynolds and Levy worked together on the action comedy “Free Guy,”which is scheduled to premiere on December 11, 2020. Jonathan Tropper (this is where I Leave you) writes the final draft of the film. The subject of the film is kept under total secrecy for now. Tropper’s rewriting is based on a script by TS Nowlin, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger are executive producers on behalf of Skydance.
Skydance’s upcoming films include “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Snake Eyes” and “The Tomorrow War,” all of which were shot in a Paramount partnership. Reynolds ‘upcoming films include “The Croods 2,” “The Hitman’s Wife’ Bodyguard” and “Red Notice.” Reynolds will be accompanied by Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in the cast of the action film Red Notice. Netflix also acquired the rights to “Red Notice”from Universal in 2019.
